About Us - Sage Development

Sage Line 50 and Sage MMS

If you are one of the many users of Sage Line 50 or MMS accounting software, we can help you customise your system and integrate it with your web site or your other systems.

We subscribe to the Sage Developer's Programme, giving us access to the latest tools and updates for the Sage small-to-mid market product ranges, including Sage Line 50, Sage MMS, Sage Payroll and ACT!

For Line 50, Sage provide a toolkit called Sage Data Objects (SDO) which allows bespoke programs to read and update the data in Sage.

Sage MMS, developed using Microsoft's .NET framework and SQL Server, provides a comprehensive toolset allowing full access to MMS's data and functionality.

What is integration?

Broadly, this is the linking of different systems or sources of information.

For instance, if you find yourself printing off information from one system in order to re-key it into another, integration might well be the answer, allowing you to transfer this information literally with the click of a button.

The most common example is that of web orders or enquiries. These may be printed off from a web page or an email, then keyed into an accounting system such as Sage Line 50 or Sage MMS. Not only is this time-consuming but it's also error-prone. Integration will allow this information to be posted directly, quickly and without typing mistakes.

What is customisation?

Customisation involves changing the way a program looks or behaves.

If there's a facility you'd really like or perhaps you just like to change the look of a particular screen, customisation is what you need.

Case Study 1 - Sales Order Processing

Our customer, a successful internet retailer, was a victim of its own success. Each day their staff were printing dozens of internet orders and re-keying them into Sage Line 50.

Using industry-standard tools such as XML and Microsoft's VB.Net, with Sage Data Objects (SDO) we developed a bespoke solution which allows these orders to be checked, altered if necessary and then loaded into Sage Line 50 at the click of a button or two.

Our customer is in the process of migrating to Sage MMS so we will be re-developing the program.

On his busiest day of 2006 our customer told us

"Three cheers for the Order Load tool without which we'd have sunk."

Case Study 2

Thanks to this web page we had an urgent email enquiry from a customer in Malta.

They needed to integrate their own bespoke web application with Sage Line 50.

Using Visual Basic .NET and Sage Data Objects(SDO) we have provided them with an extract, producing data in XML and an import process, which also uses XML to load order information into Sage.

Case Study 3 - US Sales Tax

Our client, a Sage Line 50 user, provides services to customers in the United States.

Their problem was that the rules for calculating US Sales tax are very complex. They found a partial solution through Avalara, a US based company which provides on-line tax calculation services.

We have provided the link between Sage and Avalara, taking invoice data from Sage, using the Avatax web service to calculate US sales tax and posting the results back into Sage Line 50. Job done!
